This is one of the three current books on tiaras. Geoffrey Munn's other book Tiaras A History of Splendour is the major book on the subject of tiaras and it is really focused on tiaras, not just jewelry. This book is a much smaller book but just as good of a reference. It does have some funny sections on fashion of the day and the general evolution of headgear as jewelry and some on the hairstyles that went with it. Some of the styles are hilarious. The photos in this book were also very good and since it's a smaller book the issue of having to flip through multiple pages to find a plate wasn't as much of a problem here. It is worth having both books since there are some things in here that are not in the larger book. Enjoy the tiaras and the gossip!
This coffee table book is worth the price. In addition to being a gem historian and raconteur on Antique Roadshow UK Mr. Munn makes the pieces shown approachable for Jewelry/ history buff of all ages and tastes. Give this gentleman a knighthood !
Wow! I just got this book, and G.Mann's huge other tiara book. This one is based on the exhibit that was done at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and contains not only old tiaras, but modern ones done just for the exhibit. There is very little overlap between the two books, so I was not disappointed. The photos are huge, clear, and show lots of detail. There's also lots of good information. The other, bigger book is a better deal at $47, but this one's no slouch either, and the price and size would make it a great gift.[...]

This is a lovely book. One I am happy to just flip through to enjoy the pictures or to spend more in depth time learning about the history of specific tiaras. A wonderful addition to my bookshelf.

I love jewelry and always have. I do not have a tiara, but I certainly enjoy looking at them online or in books. While living in the French part of Germany for 20 years, we traveled to London and saw many of the lovely items that belong to the Queen. Our children enjoyed it as much as we did. They also went to the Wax Museum and came out so excited and said. "Mama, there is a wax lady in there and you look just like her. It was Mary. Queen of Scots. My Grandmother was born in Scotland in a small village calledPress & Pan.(Not to sure of the spelling>). Betty
